Madonna, is that you?

About Alejandro, Lady Gaga's latest video: do you see a lot of the 90's Madonna or is it just me?

To name some references:

- Madonna's Like a Virgin bed performance on her Blonde Ambition Tour
- Like a Prayer's religious outfit
- Vogue choreography (4:22)
- S&M look
- La Isla Bonita for the Spanish accent
- At the beginning it looks a bit like the Frozen videoclip
- And Gaga herself resembles so much of Madonna sometimes! Check time 5:20

I hope these obvious references are an homage to Madonna and not just plain imitation...

Sex and the City 2 - You really got me now

I HATED the first trailer, thought the film would be totally meaningless - just one of those awful continuations of a story that hasn't got anything else to tell. But this trailer here just changed it all... Carrie meeting Aidan in Abu Dhabi in a girls' trip after marrying Big? That's something I REALLY wanna see.  And yes, I am in fact a very silly girl :)

Trendy Tilda (2)

Here are some of my favourite Tilda Swinton's looks:

Trendy Tilda

I love the idea of using Tilda Swinton as a model for fashion brands as she's really exotic, intriguing and interesting with her alien-like look. Besides that she has her own style, her own fashion identity which happens to be really elegant. I usually love her looks on the red-carpet, though most of the times she gets the worst reviews from the gossip press - but what do they know about elegance and good design, anyway.

I find her androginy very fashionable and I really see her in campaigns for groundbreaking fashion designers, like Martin Margiela for example (and I know he doesn't advertise but I think Tilda could easily be his muse if he did).

But why this ad for Pringle of Scotland? I get the brand is a classic as they make knitwear since 1815 (so it's a REAL classic) and they want to make it look trendier, but why this paranoid/terrified look on her face? It just doesn't fit. I'm not talking about the whole campaign, which I find beautiful, but this ad just doesn't look right.

Telephone - Gaga's new video feat. Beyoncé

On the Video Phone clip, Gaga looks like a little girl trying to shake it lika mama Beyoncé. I actually felt sorry for Gaga for the first time because she really disappears wearing those tight clothes and shaking by Beyoncé's side. BUT OF COURSE, we couldn't expect less from Gaga: she has just launched a videoclip for a song called Telephone, featuring Beyoncé... and it's all about Gaga.

But Video Phone, Beyoncé feat. Gaga, then Telephone, Gaga feat. Beyoncé? Is it a competition? Anyway, this clip is more like a movie, with Lady Gaga on the main role and Beyoncé as an accessory. Both of them look amazing, but the video clearly has Gaga's aesthetics and she's the one you can't take your eyes off. Amazing coreographies, cool looks, great makes, in short, stunning aesthetics. Well, that's Gaga... nevermind the song.

So here's the new video, a bit long (9:32) but REALLY worth it.

And this is Beyoncé's Video Phone, just for comparison :)

Unlimited cinema, yayyy!

Nice thing that's been going on lately: I'm completely up-to-date on all the movies showing on the cinema, since I have an unlimited access card - yessss, best thing ever! So lately I've been going to the cinema at least 3 times a week, and I'm just loving it. So chances are I start writing A LOT about movies!

These are some brief comments on some of the films I've watched lately:

Valentine's Day - Really AWFUL. Not even the great casting could save such a bad, predictable and meaningless plot. Unless you are a female looking for visual delight - then maybe it could work for you, as you'll have almost two hours of Patrick Dempsey (McDreamy), Eric Dane (McSteamy), Taylor Lautner (cute werewolf from New Moon - Twilight saga), Ashton Kutcher (needless to say anything), Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx... but that's it.

Up in the air - I would highly recommend this one. George Clooney is amazing playing the main role as a fun, unnatached character which has the most interesting actions and reactions I've seen lately. It is a very good plot, a complex movie with lots of content, though it's not heavy to watch. It's actually really fun and entertaining but can be really insightful at the same time, making you feel lots of things, even melancolly. It looks like a romantic comedy if you watch the trailer, but it's not. The only thing I really hated was the HUGE amount of merchandising, as they spend a lot of time showing American Airline's and Hilton's logos. That's a bit annoying, but that's it, that's the only downer.

Lady Gaga on Brit Awards 2010

AMAZING performance! Alone on stage with perfect presence, perfect voice, perfect music choice, perfect look, and all dedicated to McQueen...

And of course I couldn't not talk about her outfit. First time she doesn't show her curves. She looks like a pine covered in snow - it would be just perfect for Christmas time :)

Barbie GaGa

This is pure Pop Art, using 50-year-old fashion doll Barbie as a mannequin to superpopstar-Gaga's crazy outfits.

The details truly amazing. Andy Warhol would be so proud :)

Some of these were made by Beijing artist Veik, and some by Hong Kong designer Lu Wei Kang - both 29 years old.

Grammys - the performances

Lady Gaga's performance was amazing. It was really fun and she looked great on that body with huge shoulders, just like a glitter heart. She is a performer, a show girl, that's her main strenght. But her voice sounded really good as well, and the 'gran finale' with Elton John was great.

Pink's performance was nice and artistic, but I didn't get why she chose such a quiet and sad song. She is so powerful and she wasn't able to show all her energy with that choice. But I loved the aerial dance.

Beyoncé's was tedious, even though she sang Alanis Morrissette's best-ever song in the middle of her performance. But she just couldn't make it right. Watch it here.

Grammys - the looks

Ok, the Grammys are nice, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift did really well and Kings of Leon got some awards too. But what I really want to talk about now is those ladies' looks.

Starting, of course, with Lady Gaga:

Really, I usually love her outfits and her whole style - hair, shades, shoes, makeup, etc - but what the hell just happened here? First of all: her face looks just like Amy's! (Winehouse, of course). I can see that her image is a statement and I truly deeply love that, but that doesn't mean she has to show up uglier and uglier everytime.  And what about her skin tone? She is grey as if she had been just unburied from the snow.

This spacial Armani Privé (how come???) dress wasn't that good either. Come on, she looks like a statue in the entrance of a science museum. I know everybody loves that she looks completely freaky everytime and I find it awful and terribly disapointing when she tries to look like a pretty girl... but I don't know, this choice just wasn't right for her.

Beyoncé

She looks really classy in this Stéphane Rolland dress. That is not exactly what I would have chosen for her, but in my opinion, it works well there. I was surprised though, this is not her usual sexy-bootylicious style at all! Oh, and I think her hair could have been the sexy touch in this outfit, wearing it natural, curly, voluminous... that would have shown a little more of Be's identity and would be better balanced with her supercurvy body. Her head looks so small in this look!

Taylor Swift

She looks stunning in this Kaufman Franco dress. So elegant and so sexy at the same time.

Pink

I always think Pink looks amazing, but this outfit just blew my mind. She looks like a saint on this beautiful white hoodie-gown. A very trendy one, by the way.

Ciara

I hated it! She looks as if she were Robocop's widow. I just don't know what else to say...   oh yeah, it's Givenchy Haute Couture.

Jennifer Nettles

This was my favourite look, even though the dress is by Victoria Beckham. But it's all perfect - the cut, the colour, the contrast with her pale skin, the classy black details, the natural hair... everything really well put together. Loved it.

Jennifer Lopez

Her hair looks nice, but all the rest just looks wrong. I don't like this assimetrical Versace dress at all, the silvery part looks cheap, and her makeup looks just awful. Why did she whiten her skin? I prefer tanned Jen all the way.

Rihanna

What to say about this girl? I think this Elie Saab Haute Couture dress is overwhelming, but it's not the right choice for the occasion, neither the right choice for her. Maybe on Heidi Klum at the Oscar Ceremony? And I really don't like her hair in this look. Maybe in another outfit it would look nice, but definetly not in this dress.
